I'm not sure how or when it happens, but whenever your child gets sick the mother ends up sick or sicker than the child. Then again, it could be the constant kisses and hugs that my daughter requires to get better. My husband on the other hand is just fine! (I'm not bitter)
The good news is that I still had time (before I got sick, of course) to enjoy a nice glass of wine. On Sunday, my family and I went to another family's house for dinner. Yes, we were invited! I knew we were having steak so I brought a Chianti to serve with dinner. I never had chianti until I lived in Italy. At first I thought it was "too dark" and a very "heavy" wine. (I know that is not a term a wine maker would use, but that's how it tastes to me. And really, that's all that matters, right?? LOL!) Italy is where my love for wine flourished. Wine was abundant and cheap! Now that I am back in the United States, I am always on the hunt for a bottle of wine that tastes decent and is not going to make me tap into my kid's college fund.
The wine is called Conte Priola Chianti. It's from Italy and it's cheap - $7.99 at Total Wine and More. It is a full-bodied wine with a sweet aftertaste. You will see a few more from this brand in weeks to come because their wines are easy to drink and very food-friendly. For dinner, we had Porterhouse steak, sautéed mushrooms and onions, baked potatoes and steamed broccoli. The dinner was wonderful and the wine paired very well with the meal. Try it and let me know what you think.
Need to get back to bed. Enjoy your week!
