This year we decided to go out for New Year's Eve/Day. When I say "out" I mean "not at home." Our plan was to go to the Mummers Parade on New Years Day in Philly (http://mummers.com), so we stayed the night in downtown Philly near the parade route. We are a Marriott family. That is the hotel chain that my daughter knows. Anytime we say we are going to a hotel, she says "you mean the Marriott?"
We stayed at the Residence Inn in Center City right across from City Hall. It's a nice hotel with 25 floors, which is odd for a Residence Inn. When we got to our room, Chey turned in to our Little Princess. Our room was on the 8th floor and as soon as we walked into the room she said "This is way too small!" Then she opened the drapes..."The view is HORRIBLE! This is NOT going to work. We need to move."
I'm not kidding. That is exactly what she said.
We ended up "movin' on up" (Jefferson theme song) to the 24th floor where there are only 3 suites on the floor. When we walked into this room she said, "THIS is what I'm talking about." LOL!! The suite was huge and there were full length windows on two sides of the room. We were right across from the clock and Ben Franklin (see photos). The best part were the fireworks. We saw fireworks from every park, backyard, parking lot and stadium in the city right from the comfort (and warmth) of our hotel room.
So, what was I sipping on to ring in the new year??? The three of us toasted the new year with sparkling grape cider in champagne glasses. I know, I know...so NOT me. But, our kid felt extra special because she was drinking the same thing as Mommy and Daddy. It was the perfect way to bring in 2014.
Happy New Year! May 2014 bring us all good luck, good wine, and good times!
