I'm sure from my Facebook posts, most of you know that my husband and I took our daughter to New York for her 8th birthday. Why New York? Well, when I asked her what she wanted to do for her birthday she said she wanted to go to New York. No party??? Nope...New York. She wanted to see all the lights and the big screens that she saw on TV on New Year's Eve. Greeaaat.... That's not expensive at all. Then again, neither are birthday parties these days.

We had a great time and as you can imagine we ate...walked... ate...walked...ate...did I mention that we ate? LOL! I didn't have much wine in New York because it is terribly expensive at the restaurants. I did have a nice Pinot Noir at an Italian restaurant called Maria Pia on 51st street, for a mere $12 per glass. Needless to say, I had one glass.

We did bring one bottle to enjoy in the hotel. It's called Red Cat from Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards in New York. The winery calls it their "official wine of good times." It's a sweet wine and it pairs wonderfully with a Friday night menu - hot wings, pizza, fries. It's best served cold, over ice. (I know...weird for a wine). My husband and I had it over ice in the cups the hotel gives you for coffee. Very classy!

I bought Red Cat at Total Wine & More for only $5.99 because they were trying to get rid of the holiday version. Normally, it's $9.99. Believe it or not, but you can also find it on Amazon.
