Happy 4th of July!

Hope everyone is having a nice holiday. I'm sitting here looking at my mother's wine collection and pondering on which one I want to open next.  I just finished the last drop of a very good bottle of wine that we opened yesterday.

Yesterday I drove from Corona, CA to Lompoc, CA to drop off Chey at her Grammy's (my mother) house. It normally would take 3-4 hours. I'm not sure what the heck I was thinking driving all that way on a holiday weekend. The highway was packed! NOT my idea of fun. Did I mention that I hate driving long distance to begin with? The traffic made it that much better...NOT!

My mother knows me very well because she had a glass of wine ready when I got there...6 HOURS LATER! After hearing my series of complaints on the HELL I call Cali traffic, she set the bottle on the table. Lol!

The wine was from Modesto, CA called Apothic Red (2012).  It's a red wine blend of Zinfandel, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. It was very good! The color is a rich, dark red, but it's not too bold where you have to pair it with food. As you all know, my favorite wines are the ones you can drink by itself.  Although, at that moment I probably would have guzzled down a bottle of Boones Farm. Lol!

I searched online and found it at BevMo for $11.99, but my mother said she got it at Wal-Mart, which I'm sure was cheaper.

My mother belongs to Zaca Mesa wine club of Santa Ynez Valley, and she has lots of wine to choose from.  The Reserve Syrah is calling my name.

Have a safe and patriotic 4th of July and stay off those darn roads.

Salute!
